As long as the mechanism that allows children to be killed in Gaza is not permanently stopped—and as long as people do not unite internationally as **#OnlyThePeople**, in a simultaneous act of peaceful collective rejection, without placing any politicians, political parties, NGOs, or any other representative institutions in between—that same mechanism will continue to keep you occupied with local struggles: against the environmental destruction caused by a mining company, against corruption, or for an increase in your pension.
It may even grant you small victories from time to time.
Because those small victories do not prove that the mechanism has been defeated. On the contrary, they demonstrate that it is still capable of reproducing its own legitimacy. While you celebrate, saying, *"See? It is possible to achieve results by struggling within this system,"* that very same mechanism continues operating elsewhere—and continues allowing children to be killed in Gaza.
In other words, while you mistake your struggle against a single tentacle of the octopus for the real struggle and believe you have achieved victory, the octopus merely shrugs—as if to say, *"How sweet... thanks for the nice manicure and pedicure."*
This does **not** mean that your local struggles are unimportant or meaningless. The problem is not that you struggle, but that you are encouraged to focus only on the tentacle reaching toward you instead of the mechanism as a whole. As a result, every small victory you believe you have won may, without your realizing it, contribute to reproducing the legitimacy of that same mechanism.
My argument is this: the same mechanism also allows the ongoing genocide in Gaza to continue, and you begin to see a struggle limited to its local puppets as sufficient, thus—even unintentionally—you end up contributing to the continued legitimacy of that mechanism. That is precisely where the subtlety of the trap lies.
Political parties, "governments," and similar structures are nothing more than the tentacles of that octopus.
Your focus should not be on stopping the tentacles one by one, but on stopping the octopus itself.
Because if you can stop the octopus, all of its tentacles stop at the same time.
Now ask yourself:
Which is more rational?
To fight the tentacles one by one, believing you've won small victories...
or to unite internationally as **#OnlyThePeople** in a simultaneous, peaceful act of collective rejection, and confront the problem at its source?
